Food contest rules and regulations
In order to be eligible to participate in the food contest you must be a participating restaurant of Alexandria’s Food and Wine Festival. Restaurants must prepare an appetizer sample, main course sample or a dessert sample of no more than 3oz each.
Participants can be an individual or a team of people.
There is no time limit to prepare the sample. Food must be prepared during the event on site or at their restaurant and must be ready by 1pm for judges to sample.
Each food sample will be judged by 5 different criteria on a scale from 1 to 5, 1 being poor and 5 being perfect: presentation, uniqueness, flavor, texture, and overall Impression.
Judges will take note and ask questions if needed.
The food contest will start at 1pm. Judges will go around restaurant booths to taste different food samples. Once all the judges return the evaluation sheets, event organizers will count points and asses notes to determine winners. At 2:30pm, winners will be announced by our Master of Ceremony.
